RISE reschedules national conferences due to concerns over COVID-19.
RISE Nashville 2020 and the National Summit on Social Determinants of Health, originally scheduled for March 15-17, will now take place in late June.
The leadership team and its global risk assessment committee at RISE decided to postpone the March conferences on March 7 in response to the spread of COVID-19, the Novel Coronavirus, throughout the United States. Both conferences were set to attract a record number of attendees.
“We continue to hold the safety, health, and well-being of our attendees, speakers, staff and exhibitors as top priority,” said Ellen Wofford, managing director of RISE, of the decision to postpone the two conferences.
Wofford described the decision as a difficult, but important, one that was made after the team consulted with the company’s advisory board, chairpersons, and risk management team, as well the reviewing feedback from attendees and sponsors regarding company travel bands, concerns for employee safety, and newly confirmed diagnosed cases in the US. “We feel it best to run the event when everyone feels safe and comfortable traveling and participating in a learning event,” she said.
RISE Nashville is RISE’s flagship event, attracting more than 1,600 executives and senior level management from Medicare Advantage, commercial and Medicaid health plans, provider groups/integrated health systems and service providers from across the United States. The event provides in-depth information on risk adjustment, quality, and Star ratings for professionals of all levels in the Medicare Advantage and Affordable Care Act market. The speaker line up for the March event included officials from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Office of Inspector General, as well as keynote presentations from Emmy-Award winner John Quiñones, Celebrity Chef Jeff Henderson, and Executive Coach Allison Massari.
Scheduled speakers for The National Summit on Social Determinants of Health included Calder Lynch, deputy administrator & director for the Center for Medicaid & CHIP Services; Denise Harlow, chief executive officer, National Community Action Partnership; Alexandra Schweitzer, senior fellow at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard Kennedy School; and Jacob Reider, M.D., chief executive officer, Alliance for Better Health, former deputy national coordinator for health information technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
